I love your illustration of the Triumph. May I ask you about your process? What do you start with when you do a 3D illustration? Do you start with a CAD model, you you freehand in Illustrator?
I am wondering if I should chase the dragon of becoming more a a full-time technical illustrator, but until now I have stayed within the world of using Illustrator - maybe with SolidWorks Composer models as a starting point. Up until now that is has served me well for the "installation guide" type of illustrations I'm asked to do.
It's tempting, but I also realize there are only so many clients for what you bring to the table.
Thanks for checking out my work on the Vetter Triumph it was from a photo from the AMA Museum. I only work in Illustrator and then paint everything in Photoshop, old school. I do not use any 3D although I should have learned it I have just been too busy.... I still see a need for good Vector work.
