If any of you are willing to spare a few minutes -

I've revised the design of my website to a 'responsive' layout - ie: one that should work on desktop, tablet or mobile - resizing and reformatting as appropriate. I've also gone to a 'portfolio on the font page' approach. That means the images are upfront, but on the downside the homepage takes longer to load.

Feedback on the sucess or failure of the design on any devices you might use would be welcome...

Thanks,

Mike

HI Mike,

I like the new Layout. I am a big fan of making it easy for art buyers to find the art quickly.

Looks good. Did you find a theme that was already responsive, or did you hack the CSS yourself?
I'm in the process of doing the same with my site. I found a nice clean grid theme, but of course want
to tweak it somewhat. Now I've gone in too deep and am really testing my CSS knowledge!

This is a great site I found that that lets you view common layout widths all at once. Works like a charm:

Thanks guys - just got to improve the work now

Matt - that's a neat link. I've been checking the site at various sizes using the 'responsive design view' (Ctrl Shift M) in Firefox, but a real world test is always better.

I spent ages looking for the 'right' theme. There was no 100% match :) In the end I decided to go with a simple theme from http://themetrust.com/. They seem to be a well regarded developer. The themes are a little limited (light on features) but that means they're fairly easy to tweak. Their support is very good. I'm no web developer - but I managed to cut / past and hack around some of the CSS to make it a little more to my liking.
